Literature Text

When the fruit trees are
Shaken, life hits rock-bottom
Ready to grow up.
I was certain abouty the first two lines, though it took me a while to arrive at the last one.

It was refreshing to work with a set structure, with a restriction. It also forced me to try and prioritise, and to concentrate as much meaning into each word as possible. This is nowhere near perfect, but I hope to work on this technique in the future. I recently read a poem that was only two lines long; at first it seemed to be reather quiet and meaningless, but when I read it through again and again and looked at every word, I saw how concentrated it was - it was just fantastic (I might try and find it again and put the name up). It was originally going to be pages long, but over the years the poet cut it down and down until they were left with nothing but two lines; now that's a good piece of work. :) I know I have a tendancy to ramble in anything I do, so imposing restrictions on myself is a good way to make myself concise and clear.
